Garden Gossip: Poem
Flowers blossom and bloom
Their strong perfume
Comes from fragility
To emerge deep strength.
Did you know
They stretch tiny bodies
To grow tall
To reach out to sunshine
And dance when the breeze
Orchestra is on.
Did you know
Flowers offer sweet hospitality
To Queen Bee
And the tiny boy named Hummingbird.
Flower beds welcome
Lady Bugs, Dragon Flies,
And even colorful Butterflies.
Rumors and gossip
Spread very fast and repeat
In the Garden of Gossip.
Flower beds
And watering tin cans
Are wet and stone cold
But it is not their fault.
The mini-rose bush blossom
Used to be awesome,
Now, it’s dry and has stopped growing
As the Old Man stopped watering.
There is a brokenness
Out of which comes the unbroken,
Strength and happiness
Out of which blooms spoken.
Some spaces are hollow
When there is sorrow
About the Gardener’s loss
As the rumors pass.
The roses cry deeper in roots
Because the secreted edges
Cut has a bleeding heart.
They broke the place inside,
Wet and dry,
As they learned to cry.
