Old Flannel Shirt: Poem

 

~ Old Flannel Shirt ~

I have an old shirt I find comforting,

it's a shirt that belonged to my dad,

this shirt is simple and plain,

but it is a shirt my dad once had.

It is flannel with an old design,

the type that people used to wear,

I don't care about other shirts,

it's about my dad’s old shirt I care.

Sometimes when I feel a bit forlorn,

and nostalgia visits at times unknown,

I pick up dads’ shirt and put it on,

wearing it like dad in old pictures shown.

Sometimes it is such simple things,

that bring comfort when I am sad,

I have an old shirt I find comforting,

it's a shirt that belonged to my dad.
