Pelicans: Poem

Pelicans: Poem

Pelicans, Pelicans

Are mythical creatures

At Key West, Pelicans’ Islands

Or at the ocean’s beach

Hunting for fish and finch.

Thanks for the 20/20 vision,

And the beak like a purse.

Wings are the transport

That brought those giant birds

From ancient times

To our days’ time rhymes.

What is unique about a pelican? –

His bill can hold food more

Then a belly can.

The bird takes enough food in a beak

That is enough to survive for a week.

Soaring is not a crime.

A pelican sees everything with a sharp eye,

When she flies with grace,

The bird does not race.

Pelican takes it time

And do not splash the water,

When hunting fish for dinner.

Pelicans represent ancient history.

They are such a mystery.
