Cholesterol: Back to Basics

According the Center of Disease Control and Prevention,
the CDC,
about 38% of American adults have high cholesterol,
putting them at risk for heart disease and stroke.
Cholesterol is a fat-like substance found in blood.
Our liver makes all cholesterol that we need.
Our diet influences the level of cholesterol.
HDL is the 'good' cholesterol,
LDL is the bad.
The factors that contribute to the high LDL:
age, high stress levels, physical inactivity and obesity,
smoking, alcohol, and poor diet.

Eat this: oats and whole grains, beans, vegetable oils
Limit or avoid: red meat, fried food, baked goods.
