Many female writers have adopted male
nom de plumes; or otherwise gender-ambiguous
pseudonyms, for the number of reasons:
a. to publish without prejudice in male dominated
circles;
b. to experiment with the freedom of anonymity;
c. to encourage male readership, etc.
From Louisa May Alcott to J.K. Rowling,
12 women authors have written under
pseudonyms.
